SCROLLING AND ITS NEGATIVE EFFECTS CHILDREN
A little boy sat quietly in the corner of the room.
No toys.
No questions.
No running around.
No conversations.
Just… scrolling.
His tiny fingers kept moving endlessly on the screen while the world around him slowly faded away.
His mother smiled proudly and said,
“At least he doesn’t trouble anyone.”
But nobody noticed:
- he stopped looking at the sky,
- stopped talking during meals,
- stopped playing outside,
- stopped sharing his feelings,
- and slowly forgot how to enjoy silence.
The child was not “calm.”
He was emotionally occupied.
Today’s scrolling addiction is not just stealing children’s time.
It is silently stealing:
- attention,
- creativity,
- emotional strength,
- patience,
- social connection,
- and the ability to think independently.
A screen should never become a replacement for:
a hug,
a conversation,
a playground,
a story,
or a parent’s presence.
Children do not only need internet connection.
They need human connection.
Before giving them another device,
let us give them:
time,
love,
movement,
nature,
laughter,
and emotional safety.
Because one day,
we may realize that while technology connected the world…
it disconnected our children from themselves.
